Back in the saddle

I didn't expect to be back on the bike 5 days post-crash, especially after a sleepless, frustrating night. But, I woke up this morning and declared that I would be training today (yikes!). So, I met up with Bill Fry at the Trek shop. Bill is an excellent bike fitter and passionate about all things on two wheels so I thought he might like the challenge of setting me up in a reasonably comfy position. Right away he had this huge grin on his face and starts pulling out all of these aerobars from the 80's. No joke, these were HUGE! Ok, they were likely from the 90's as they resembled modern aerobars more than ski poles, but you get the jist...they were OLD! We played around with a few different dorky positions before we settled on a combo of a different aerobar for each arm. The broken clavicle side gets the longer "non-drafting" length and the broken wrist side gets the "ITU" bar. My bike officially looks ridiculous. We were laughing all the way out of the shop and I think both Adam and I were slightly embarrassed to walk this bike home, passing through the neighbourhood skate park.

I think the handlebar mounted waterbottle cage/remote control holder really completes the look.

I rode for 45 minutes tonight. I can't say it felt incredible (there were a few tears), but it sure did feel good to crank out a sweat again! It's a start, I guess.

DORK ALERT!!!!!

OMG Lardass you are hilarious! I'm so glad to see you are in good spirits and getting back at it so soon. I was so bummed to hear what happened. Good luck with recovery!

You are much more ingenious then I was. I just recliner biked until I could put weight on my arm. You are very tough! I hope sleeping isn't too hard. Ps. Dr. Murray wants to see you.

Lauren, I just heard. I am so sorry. But as usual you are positive and looking forward to the future. Goo luck getting better. My thoughts are definitely with you.
PS If it helps, Blue's puppies are cute as can be! I will try to get a photo of them for you.

Haha. I knew that'd perk you up.
I asked my mom. She'll let me know when she talks to the breeder. She also doesn't have a photo, so hopefully the breeder does.
